Natura &Co and The Body Shop bosses push Sustainable Development Goal at UN forum

Natura &Co and The Body Shop has announced its bosses addressed the issue of animal testing in cosmetics at this year’s United Nations High Level Political Forum (HLPF).

The HLPF for Sustainable Development took place in New York earlier this month with a focus on ‘Transformation towards sustainable and resilient societies’.

Executive Chairman of Natura &Co Roberto Marques and Head of Global Campaigns for The Body Shop, Jessie Macneil-Brown, both spoke at the event.

Marques, who will serve on the panel for ‘a new era for responsible business’, said: “We value traceability and sustainability in sourcing ingredients, promoting the preservation of biodiversity, fair trade with suppliers, the elimination of animal testing, the neutralisation of carbon emissions, as well as support for education.

“We’re now working on a common sustainability vision for the three companies [Natura, Aesop and The Body Shop] based on what we are already doing and on what we envision for the future.”

Meanwhile, Macneil-Brown added: “The Body Shop has a product history of changing attitudes and legislation for a fairer and more sustainable world.
