New anti-pollution in vivo and in vitro tests

Published: 18-Apr-2018

Pollution primarily affects our skin because it is particularly exposed and offers a large and sensitive surface.

The best strategy is to stop polluting molecules at first contact with the skin barrier.

Thus, a simple and immediate approach to pollution control consists in either directly reducing the adhesion of pollutant particles or preventing reactions with pollutants that induce the production of undesirable molecules.

The IDEA TESTS GROUP offers new in vivo and in vitro tests to establish your anti-pollution claims:

IDEA Clinic evaluates the anti-pollution efficacy of cosmetic products against a deposit of carbon microparticles, used as a model of pollution to fine particles.

This evaluation is done by image analysis on standardised photos. Two test protocols are available, one for skincare products and the other for cleansing products.

IDEA Lab proposes tests to highlight, on in vitro models, at the molecular and cellular level, the effectiveness of the products involved in the fight against pollution: study of the lipid peroxidation of sebum under the effect of ozone, study of the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway under the action of a pollutant, study of inflammatory reactions under the effect of urban dust or diesel particulates and study of the damage to the DNA.
