Russia holds opportunity for growth, says founder

Luxury Perfumer Ormonde Jayne is looking to its grow its burgeoning business with a presence in Russia, according to founder Linda Pilkington. The brand is actively looking at opportunities in Moscow, says Pilkington, following a growth in the number of Russian visitors to the store in London’s Bond Street.

“There have been lots more Russian customers visiting the store which is good but it is still very difficult to send perfume to Russia because of the customs rules so having a retail presence there is the best solution,” she told cosmeticsbusiness.com.

Other geographical areas of interest for Ormonde Jayne include growing its business in the Middle East, where it already has a presence in Dubai.

“Abu Dhabi and Doha are interesting as we have a lot of clients at our London stores from there. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a flagship store in the Middle East either.”

But Pilkington is keen to keep the business limited. “I don’t want to have more than 50 points of sale worldwide. We are a exclusive company and I want to keep it that way.”

The brand recently opened a flagship store in London’s exclusive Sloane Square, its second boutique in the city.
