British fragrance brand Penhaligon’s has released a new fragrance inspired by the Royal House of Marwar-Jodphur in Rajasthan, India.

Named Vaara, the scent was named after the granddaughter of the Maharaja Gaj Singh II, and is said to offer a “unique glimpse into the aromatic world of the Maharaja”. Vaara was composed by master perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour, who had previously worked with Penhaligon’s on Amaranthine (2009) and Sartorial (2010). It opens with head notes of quince, rosewater, carrot seed, coriander seed, and saffron, with heart notes of Moroccan rose absolute, Bulgarian rose oil, freesia, Indian magnolia, peony, iris, and a base of honey, white musk, and cedarwood. Vaara is priced from £85.
