Company focuses on bringing ancient fragrances back to life

US fragrance house Primal Mist has launched its business with the creation two new fragrances recreated from ancient texts. Formulae Alpha and Formuale Beta are the result of linguistic analysis of excavated cuneiform tablets, which date back to the second millennium BC. The tablets contained detailed processes of perfumery written by a woman called Tapputi. Primal Mist then took this information and combined it with modern essential oils and fragrances to create the two new scents.

The company says the fragrances have been produced in very small quantities and are cured for two years before release. Batches one and two are almost exhausted but production of batch three is underway, while two further batches are entering the curing stage.
