Puig helps hard hit Spain battle Covid-19 with government link up

The Spanish fragrance company said it will prioritise the production of hydro-alcoholic solutions and sanitisers to professionals in need

Fragrance conglomerate Puig has announced plans to help Spain, one of the countries worst hit by Covid-19, battle the spread of the virus.

The Barcelona-based family-run company has offered the government its production capacity to manufacture hydro-alcoholic solutions and sanitisers.

Puig described the country’s need for these types of materials as ‘exceptional’ and said it would prioritise its production capacity to deliver these solutions to health professionals and other members of the public.

The company’s fragrance licence portfolio includes Prada Parfums, Christian Louboutin and Shakira.

Competitors including Coty, L’Oréal and Estée Lauder Companies have similarly retooled their manufacturing sites to produce hand sanitisers for countries and cities in need across the world.

Today, Spain’s death toll rose to more than 10,000 from Covid-19, reporting its highest number of fatalities since the outbreak at 950.

The country’s infection rate has also risen to more than 110,000.
