The global manufacturer and fragrance marketer acquired botanical extraction company Mazza Innovation to an undisclosed amount

US-based global manufacturer and marketing company Sensient Technologies has acquired botanical extraction company Mazza Innovation.

Mazza’s edge plant extraction technology is said to enable Sensient to meet customer demand for purer ingredients across its personal care products.

President and CEO of Sensient Technologies, Paul Manning, said: “This acquisition is extremely significant for Sensient and our customers.

“The combination of our colour and flavour expertise and Mazza’s revolutionary technology will allow us to conduct extraction from natural plant sources using environmentally friendly extraction methods - including water only extractions - instead of traditional chemical solvents.”

For the cosmetics industry, the company provides ingredients and colourants across make-up, skin, hair, oral care and fragrance.

Manning continued: “This technology will enable us to work with leading food, cosmetics and nutraceutical brands to create cost effective clean label products that deliver on consumer expectations for taste, colour and functionality.”

Headquartered in France, Sensient also works across 12 other countries in six continents.
