Unprecedented modeling study
Stimulated by beauty rituals, the senses can also be awakened in the skin through unprecedented biological activity. Indeed, the discovery of sensory receptors in the epidermis, in particular olfactory and taste receptors, sparked Silab Research teams’ interest.
Based on novel in vitro biological models, Silab demonstrated for the first time that these epidermal sensory receptors are disrupted in the course of aging. Reviving them is thus a strategy of choice to favor cutaneous regeneration that is weakened over time.
Coconut, a highly sensory fruit
SILAB identified the active molecules that specifically target epidermal olfactory and taste receptors in the coconut flour, a co-product resulting from cold-pressing the white flesh of this tropical fruit.
To source qualitatively this raw material, SILAB put its faith in Sri Lanka, a country with a long history of traditional uses of coconuts and chose its suppliers by favoring certified organic chains and production sites with good manufacturing practices label. Thanks to a mechanical transformation process (cold extraction without solvents), the quality of the fruit’s albumen is fully preserved.
Technological expertise
The two glycolipids molecules derived from coconut (nonioside D and butyl 4-O-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl-beta-D-glucopyranoside) were then isolated using a patented eco-extraction process and their mechanism of action was highlighted through two types of technological expertise: metabolomic study and molecular modeling establishing the structure/function relationship.
Able to reactivate the epidermal olfactory and taste receptors, disrupted during aging, SENSORIALINE therefore favors mature skin regeneration via the senses. The cutaneous barrier is strengthened and skin quality is improved, thus enhancing complexion radiance and increasing hydration. It is a sensory awakening for regenerated skin.
