Sephora begins retailing in India

Opens its first outlet in New Delhi

The perfumery enterprise Sephora, part of the LVMH group, has opened a new outlet in New Delhi through its local partner, the import-export enterprise, Genesis. The outlet is the first to be set up by Sephora in the developing Indian cosmetics sector and will market about 14 new cosmetics and perfumery lines. The Indian market is currently dominated by mass-distribution products, sold through pharmacies or traditional outlets. Average annual sales per capita are estimated at a mere €3 compared with three times this volume in China.
