Seppic in the clear

Published: 14-Feb-2014

Seppic, a subsidiary of the Air Liquide Group, is launching Sepiclear G7, a natural and sustainable solubiliser for the cosmetics market. It is derived from castor seeds and sugar extracted from corn starch or wheat, and does not foam. The proposed INCI name is heptyl glucoside.

“Sepiclear G7 is a concentrated non-ionic (electrically neutral) surfactant that is readily biodegradable, obtained in compliance with the 12 green chemistry principles,” said Seppic.

The product also solubilises lipophilic compounds, notably essential oils, perfumes and vitamin E, in aqueous media. According to Seppic, since Sepiclear is a liquid and cold processable, it is easy to use and energy efficient.
