Seppic offers hope for acne-prone skins

Subligana is the latest active ingredient from Seppic, claimed to target imperfections.

Acne affects about 80% of the population at some stage and new studies have shown that it involves increased cutaneous and systemic oxidative stress.

A titrated extract of Harungana madagascariensis, traditionally used against asthma, skin disorders and wound healing, Subligana has been proven to improve blemished skin.

A test on teenagers with acne-prone skin showed a significant reduction in whiteheads versus placebo after 28 days. The mechanism combines a soothing effect (through lipase inhibition, and IL-10 and IL-12 regulation), an antioxidant effect (by protecting against lipid peroxidation) and efficacy against Propionibacterium acnes.
