And provides financial aid plus hand sanitisers and dry shampoo

Japanese cosmetics group Shiseido says its Kuki plant in east Japan has suffered some damage from the earthquake, notably damage to materials from a water leak caused by the displacement of internal piping and defective sprinklers. Operations are currently suspended for about two weeks to enable repairs and inspections to be carried out, though the stock at Kuki is intact and deliveries will continue. No damage has been reported at the company's other plants in Kamakura, Kakegawa and Osaka.

The company is also making efforts to save power by a range of internal measures for staff and equipment and is considering a transfer of production to areas outside the supply zone of the Tokyo Electric Power Co.

Shiseido has also announced financial help for earthquake victims together with a supply of products from FT Shiseido that will reduce the need for water, including a dry shampoo. FT Shiseido will also supply medicated hand soap and quick drying hand disinfectant to the earthquake zone.
