Skin care brand Murad tackles ‘stress’ epidemic with Active Minds partnership

Active Minds works with more than 2 million young adults annually, offering tools to help manage their mental health

Skin care brand Murad has partnered with non-profit organisation Active Minds to help increase mental health awareness for young adults in the US.

The brand will support Active Minds with its bi-annual Stress Less Week programme running in April and October 2023. 

Both events will be run across a number of universities in the US and offer resources to help young adults better mitigate stress.

The partnership also honours now retired brand founder Howard Murad, who focused on “conquering the global health epidemic of stress” through his skin care brand.

Murad is said to have coined the term 'cultural stress', referring to how modern living is a contributing factor to chronic exhaustion which in turn impacts skin health.

"Dr Murad has always believed that stress isn't just something you feel,” said Paul Schiraldi, CEO of Murad.

“We believe in a holistic approach to skin health supported by our four founding pillars, as it's important to care for your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

“This partnership with Active Minds brings our purpose of combating the global health epidemic of stress together.”

Active Minds works with more than  2 million young adults annually, offering tools to help manage their mental health and raise awareness of the importance of reducing stress.

The organisation was founded by Alison Malmon in 2003.

"Stress is unavoidable, especially in today's world. But, there are many ways we all can help navigate stressors to minimise harm, both to ourselves and others,” added Malmon, who is also Executive Director of Active Minds.
