Popular Los Angeles-based skin care brand Kate Somerville is launching a trio of new products for the start of 2013.

D-Scar, serum comes in a rollerball applicator, reduces scarring using DS-7, a trademarked micro-encapsulated peptide that encourages the skin's renewal process. "We are the first prestige brand to do an anti-scarring product," said Somerville. In clinical tests, users found significant improvement within two weeks. The product retails for $45.

RetAsphere is a night cream that contains pure Retinol and, says Somerville, was designed "to get to the root of the wrinkle." The Retinol is contained within a lipid shell that is absorbed quickly into the skin without the irritation and redness often associated with the ingredient.

"The Retinol is suspended in a liquid so the user is getting a full dose of it but not with the redness or burning," said Somerville. The product is designed for users aged 30+. Additional ingredients such as seaweed extract and hyaluronic acid are said to help lock in moisture and brighten. It retails for $85.

Lastly, the Body Glow Sunscreen SPF 20 is a multi-purpose cream that is designed to impart a light shimmer onto the body while providing contouring and firming properties as well. Antioxidant-rich rosemary extract helps fight free radicals; caffeine is said to refine texture; mango butter moisturises and light reflective pearls add shimmer. The Body Glow Sunscreen is priced at $45.

The brand expanded into a number of new markets in 2012 including Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. Further expansion is planned for 2013.
