Symrise posts 10% increase in H1 sales

Strong growth from North America and Asia Pacific markets


Symrise has announced first half sales results of €934.7m, a 9.5% increase on the previous year’s figures. EBITDA rose to €191.2m, a margin of 20.5%.

Strong growth was recorded in every region, with North America posting a 13% hike and Asia Pacific, a 10% increase in sales. The EAME region also saw significant sales growth, up 5% on 2012’s H1 figures, while Latin America posted an above average result of 3% sales growth.

The company’s Scent and Care division boosted its sales to €490.3m, an increase of 10.3% on the previous year. Production capacities for menthol were increased in 2012 and the division has benefitted from high demand in the oral care, fine fragrance and cosmetic ingredients sectors.

“After a robust first half, we are entering into the second half of our anniversary year from a strong position,” said Dr Heinz-Jürgen Bertram, CEO. “We will continue to implement our business expansion plans, adding new and innovative product solutions to our portfolio. In addition, we will enhance our position in both industrialised and emerging markets.”
