Ingredients manufacturer Symrise reports an increase in sales for 2013

Ingredients manufacturer Symrise has reported a 6% increase in sales for 2013 (10% in local currency), reaching €1.83bn compared to €1.74m in 2012. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 10% to €373m.

The development was supported by both divisions, the company said, but Scent & Care performed particularly well thanks to a positive consumer sentiment worldwide, strong demand for menthol and the fragrance activities acquired from the Belmay Group. Strongest growth at local currency were recorded in North America, driven by double-digit growth rate in the oral care and aroma molecules application areas as well as by Belmay, and in Latin America, which particularly benefited from high demand in the perfumes and cosmetics applications areas.

CEO Dr Heinz-Jürgen Bertram said: “Symrise is... well positioned to maintain its excellent growth and earnings trajectory as it opens the next chapter of its corporate development.”
