Collaborations with sister trade organisations have been initiated, says the new association

New trade association, the Fragrance Science & Advocacy Council (FSAC) in North America, has announced that it touched its 100-day milestone in June with defined key focus areas.

The association, launched by leading fragrance industry players Firmenich, Givaudan, IFF and Symrise in March this year, is dedicated to the strategic development of responsible, science-based public policy in response to the fast-evolving regulatory landscape.

During its first 100 days, the FSAC board officers met with sister trade organisations in the US to extend invitations to collaborate, including the American Cleaning Institute (ACI), the Fragrance Creators Association (FCA), the Flavor and Extract Manufacturers Association (FEMA), the Household & Commercial Products Association (HCPA), the National Candle Association (NCA) and the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC).

Within FSAC three committees have been formed: the Scientific Affairs Committee, the Government Relations Committee and the Communications Committee, with chairpersons and vice-chairs selected for each committee in May.

This, says FSAC, ties in with its vision to develop strategic approaches in the areas of Federal and State legislative and regulatory activity; science advocacy; and communications.

Most recently, on 8 September, FSAC became a National Member Association of the International Fragrance Association (IFRA).

As part of IFRA, the organisation supports the IFRA Code of Practice and will require relevant members to comply with IFRA Ingredient Standards.
