UK perfume retailer The Fragrance Shop has raised a total of £500,000 for children’s charity Rays of Sunshine.

The figure is a milestone for the retailer, which has been raising money for the cause since 2012. To raise funds, The Fragrance Shop has been donating 5p from every transaction to the charity. Customers who pay with chip and pin are also able to match the donation. Rays of Sunshine is a charity that grants ‘wishes’ to children that are seriously ill.

Sanjay Vadera, CEO of The Fragrance Shop, explains: “Three years ago we launched our new proposition, ‘spray a little happiness’. Of course we wanted this to be prevalent in all our stores and something that all our customers experience, but we wanted to go the extra mile. Rays of Sunshine does a fantastic job spreading joy to very poorly children and we wanted to support them as much as possible. Our customers have been instrumental in the success of raising half a million pounds and we’re looking forward to continuing to ‘spray a little happiness’ into many more lives in the years to come.”
