A deal agreed with the French government will help French companies enrol on the Chinese e-commerce site

Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group has agreed a deal with the French government that aims to expedite the enrolment of French companies on its e-commerce site Tmall.com. The deal includes extra help with online promotion, marketing and unspecified ‘dedicated services’. In addition, Alibaba Group’s e-payments company Alipay and its affiliate China Smart Logistics will provide payment remittance and logistics support.

On 19 May, Tmall.com launched a week-long ‘Elegance of France’ campaign to showcase French lifestyle to Chinese consumers through exclusive product launches and limited-edition items from more than 30 featured French brands selling fashion and beauty products, food, home accessories and other merchandise. Brands already operating storefronts on the site include L’Oréal, Biotherm and Clarins.
