Online sales of cosmetics in the US have continued to flourish despite tough economic times, as Kitty So reports:

The online market for perfume and cosmetics in the US has bucked five years of recession then patchy economic recovery to grow steadily as more people connect to the internet and get the e-commerce habit. Distributors such as the US’s Estée Lauder Companies and Canada’s Lise Watier have prospered online and through mobile platforms, offering customer interaction, convenience and access to international markets.

“Consumers have increasingly flocked to virtual outlets for the cost savings, price comparisons and time savings they offer,” noted California based analyst IBISWorld in a September 2012 report on US online perfumery and cosmetics.
