Unilever/Alberto Culver takeover given green light in US

Unilever receives regulatory clearance following divestment

Unilever has reached a settlement with the US Department of Justice over its takeover of Alberto Culver. The Anglo-Dutch household and personal goods giant has agreed to divest its Alberto VO5 and Rave hair care brands along with any associated products in the US, and the acquisition agreement is now expected to be completed by 10 May.

Unilever says the acquisition of Alberto Culver will make it the world’s leading company in hair conditioning, the second largest in shampoo and the third largest hair styling.
