In partnership with Bio-on, the new My Kai range is said to be 100% natural and made from bioplastic materials

Unilever, in partnership with Bio-on, is preparing to roll-out a new collection of sustainable and environmentally-friendly sun care products.

My Kai’s SPF Booster products are formulated using minerv bio cosmetics, bioplastic micro powders, that are said to be kinder to the environment.

The biomaterials developed by Bio-on in these formulas are also made from renewable plant sources, with the same thermo-mechanical properties as conventional plastics.

Meanwhile, the ingredients are said to be designed to significantly reduce the percentage of UV filters used in the products.

“My Kai represents another building block in our green cosmetics revolution,” said Marco Astorri, Bio-on’s Chairman and CEO.

“Through our collaboration with Unilever and our ongoing search for new cosmetics solutions, we are defining a new production standard without bioplastic.”

Unilever’s Italia CEO and Chairman, Fulvio Guarneri, added: “This new product line is a concrete example of how Unilever sees sustainability and proposes innovative solutions for consumers.

“With My Kai, Unilever is simultaneously fulfilling two objective of the USLP [Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan].”

My Kai products will be available in stores from March.
