Urban retreat, the luxury hair and beauty salon with its flagship store located in Harrods in London, has announced that Reena Hammer (pictured left) has been appointed as Managing Director.
Hammer has worked for the family-run business for more than ten years. Prior to her promotion, she was Creative & Brand Director. Her father, George Hammer (pictured right) will remain as Chairman of the company involved across all aspects.Reena Hammer said: “I would like to thank my father for building an amazing business that I, alongside our fantastic team can grow into the future. I am honoured and very proud to lead and represent the Urban Retreat Group.”
Meanwhile George Hammer spoke of Reena Hammer’s successful progression within the company. “Reena has worked alongside me in the business for over ten years, most recently as Creative & Brand Director. She has gained the support and respect of our staff, client base and suppliers and has proved to be an invaluable asset to our business. I am both delighted and proud to be able to announce her as the Managing Director of our company.” This year, Urban Retreat is celebrating its 25th year in business, and its 16th year in Harrods. Urban Retreat is owned by Hammer Holdings, which George Hammer is also Chairman of.
Last year was a busy one for Urban Retreat as it unveiled two new offerings: The Make-Up Salon, an area that provides hair and make-up services, and The Moroccan Hammam, a female-only spa offering luxury cleansing and detoxifying rituals. In the same month as the launch of The Make-Up Salon, Urban Retreat announced that British celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton would be joining the team as Creative Director. The move came as Barton closed his salon in Covent Garden.
Urban Retreat also operates a diffusion arm of the business, U.R. Beautiful, located in Kingston-upon-Thames. Meanwhile, the company also has an online store the Urban Retreat Beautique, which stocks a wide variety of the company’s partner brands’ products.
