The two companies will work on producing a range of beauty products

VariBlend, a US manufacturer of dual-dispensing packaging solutions, has formed a strategic partnership with Cosmax, a South Korean company that specialises in design manufacturing for the cosmetics industry.

The partnership will see a range of beauty products created, with the first ones slated to be unveiled in late May. Cosmax will provide US-based high-speed filling, the bulk and serve as a contract filler.

The first product created by the partnership is the 20mm VariBlend mini (pictured). VariBlen’s President and CEO Robert Brands said: “This is a true partnership initially focused upon our Made-in-America MiniMix 20mm dispenser, which represents an innovative new option for makers of lip glosses, concealers and other on-the-go personal care products based upon fixed or variable delivery ratio of two different formulas.” Cosmax will carry out its filling at a state-of-the-art 330,000sqft site in Solon, Ohio, US. The site used to be owned by L’Oréal and is capable of producing in excess of 150 million units a year.

Cosmax USA’s Chief Executive Sok-Min Yu said: “We are the leading make-up producer in Korea and China, and we are determined to become the largest contract cosmetics manufacturer in the world by 2017, through advances in the US – the largest cosmetics market – and Latin America, the fastest-growing make-up market. Our strategic partnership with VariBlend is another step in that direction.”

The VariBlend MiniMix features a slim design and colour-blending capabilities allowing for two shades to be held within the main structure and blended upon pumping.

Giving insight into future plans, Brands revealed that concealer and eyeshadow formulas are in the pipeline as part of the partnership.
