Mexican glass manufacturer to open plant in Brazil, with operations expected to commence in 2016

Vitro, Mexico’s leading glass manufacturer, is to build a new glass containers plant in Brazil. The company will invest around $90m to strengthen its position in Brazil as the world’s second largest consumer of cosmetics and fragrances.

Another reason for this investment is that the new location will enable Vitro to serve the significant portion of its customers that have operations in the region.

The plant is expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2016. In the meantime, the company will continue exporting to South America from its plant in Toluca, Mexico.

“Our manufacturing presence in Brazil will help to consolidate our position as one of the leading players in the global market for cosmetics and fragrances, with a multi-regional presence that will serve our customers better,” said said Adrián Sada Cueva, CEO of Vitro.
