Medical tourism platform plans to launch Arabic and Russian language versions in the future

WhatClinic, the medical tourism comparison website, has invested nearly €1m in building and launching a German language version of its platform.

The Dublin-based company helps international consumers find the right provider for treatments ranging from breast implants to liposuction, hair transplants, gastric bands and IVF.

The investment is part of the company’s long term strategy to support its global audience in a variety of languages and will help facilitate different language sites in the future.

WhatClinic’s CEO Caelen King said: “A German language site was a clear opportunity for us to help more consumers. We already have thousands of clinics in many markets that seek to engage with German-speaking patients, and they tell us so as part of the on-boarding process.”

It plans to invest in new websites catering for those that speak Arabic, Russian and Mandarin in the future.

This year, more than 17 million English-speaking users visited the site, which works with over 120,000 clinics worldwide in around 130 countries.

The elective healthcare market is valued at more than €500bn, excluding China.
