Since its inception, the cosmetics industry has created products designed to make us feel beautiful, powerful and confident. Cosmetics packaging trends have typically reflected this, with brands seeking materials to give their products an attractive, high end appearance. But beauty can come at a cost.

Recently, we’ve seen an urgent shift towards creating more sustainable cosmetics packaging, and for good reason: 91% of plastic waste is not recycled. Of the 120 billion cosmetic packaging units produced every year, a staggering 70% are landfilled.
