Spabreaks.com is holding a Massage-athon to launch Women’s Wellness Week in September

The power of massage is due to be celebrated by spas and salons around the world next month, in what is set to be the biggest event of its kind.

A Massage-athon, organised by online spa comparison website spabreaks.com, will be held at 11am on 19 September treating more than 1,000 women to one-hour full body massages using #WE11NESSHOUR.

While treatments are free, donations of £20 are encouraged to the Willow Foundation, which gives those that are seriously ill aged 16-40 special experiences.

The event is being held to kickstart Women’s Wellness Week, run in partnership with the Willow Foundation and Britmums.

The week aims to raise awareness of physical and emotional wellbeing, with the aim of encouraging women to prioritise their health and set aside time for themselves.

Live Q&A sessions will be run on spabreaks.com’s Facebook and Twitter pages, featuring a range of experts including medical practitioners and businesswomen.

Among the spas taking part is Macdonald Hotels & resorts, which will be launching a special spa package for the week including a 55min Elemis Biotec treatment, full use of facilities, a spa lunch and glass of Prosecco.

Keith Pickard, Group Director of Golf, Leisure and Spa, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the issues around women’s wellness and we are delighted to be taking part.

“By involving our group of 24 spa hotels throughout the UK and Europe, we hope to bring greater awareness to the public on the health benefits of massage and the importance of taking time out to do something for themselves.”
