Colour management and measurement technology provider X-Rite has released an upgraded version of its vipPAQ colour measurement system to optimise production control and quality assurance in flexography and gravure printing.

VipPAQ version 2.0 consists of up to four nine-channel densitometers with handheld compatible optics, a controller and system software and it is claimed to be the only solution that can be installed on press in a fully closed loop implementation. The system is said to reduce the set-up time for print runs and enable users to identify errors early in the workflow through real time control of the actual print condition at the control console. In addition, the company has launched a new SpectroEye colour measurement tool. SpectroEye SA (small aperture) is used to measure smaller patch sizes down to 3.5mm with its 3.2mm aperture. The model complements the standard LT version with its aperture of 4.5mm which measures control bars with a patch size of 5mm or larger.

X-Rite has also announced that its i1iSis family of automated chart readers won the European Digital Press Award for Best Colour Management in the software category. It recently released the i1iSis Power Bundle which includes complete hardware and software for users in pre-press, digital printing and wide-format printing.
