Zemea Propanediol receives Natrue Certification

Du Pont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Company today announced that its product, Zemea Propanediol, has been independently reviewed by Quality Assurance International(QAI) and certified as 100% derived natural by Natrue.

Zemea is a natural 100% biobased ingredient made from corn sugar through fermentation and developed for use in the cosmetics and personal care market. It is a high performance and sustainable alternative to petroleum-based glycol and glycerin, according to the company. Zemea is also approved as a natural ingredient by Ecocert and the Natural Products Association, certified 100% biobased by the US Department of Agriculture and has both Kosher and Halal certifications.

Dave Wood, product director at DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products, commented: “We are very excited to receive Natrue certification of Zemea, which is seeing widespread adoption in the global personal care market. Companies who are seeking Natrue certification for their natural or organic products now have a certified glycol alternative to add to their formulator’s toolbox.”
