Increase in visitor numbers and exhibitors

The 2013 edition of in-cosmetics Asia saw up 16% increase in visitors on the previous year, making it a record breaking event, according to organisers Reed Exhibitions. The show attracted 6,700 visitors from across the Asian region, with 38% of attendees classified as international (2,285), compared to just 18% in 2012. The show also attracted 360 exhibitors from 30 countries, who showcased over 240 new ingredient concepts of the three day event.

In addition to the popular Innovation Zone, marketing trends seminars and ingredients workshops, this year featured two new concepts. A new product trail, focusing on exhibitors showcasing anti-ageing, anti-acne and skin whitening ingredients, helped provide a guide for visitors at the show, while a focus on South Korea, promoted ingredients and companies from this country, as well as providing information about the latest product trends.

The show was also the platform for the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient awards, which saw Lucas Meyer scoop gold with its Elix-IR botanical active created to help fight Infra'aging. The silver award went to Lipotec for its Source of Youth Cream with Juvefoxo peptide, while Schülke & Mayr was awarded bronze for its sensiva PA 3, a nature inspired multifunctional additive, claimed to offer protection for leave-on, wet wipe and sensitive applications.
