A flurry of new launches and a wider range of shades are boosting the appeal of tinted sunscreens as more consumers incorporate SPF into their daily routines.

The category has experienced significant growth, with demand rising 86.9% year-over-year across platforms, according to data intelligence platform Spate. Search on Google, with 59% share of popularity, was up 50% on last year, while on TikTok, interest has risen 188% compared to 2024.

“Tinted SPF is no longer a niche – it is becoming a staple and one of the fastest-growing SPF categories,” Akshay Talati, Chief Innovation Officer at Supergoop! tells Cosmetics Business.

“Consumers want to simplify their routines with products that protect, perfect, and perform all in one. With the rise of the ‘no make-up make-up’ trend, searches for tinted SPFs have surged. It’s resonating with both skin care loyalists and make-up fans who want high-protection formulas that look and feel beautiful on skin.”

Supergoop! has met this demand with Protectint Daily Skin Tint, which offers SPF 50 and sheer coverage in a single step, with 14 undertone driven shades and a lightweight breathable finish.
Containing ectoin, hyaluronic acid, and noni fruit extract, it is “a true fusion of skin care, sun care, and complexion innovation” adds Talati.

“Today’s tinted SPFs are a complete reinvention of the category. Gone are the days of limited shades and heavy textures.”
