Superdrug has named Simon Comins COO in a “major milestone” for the company and the executive.
Comins has risen through the ranks at the UK beauty retailer in a career spanning nearly four decades, where he started as a part-time Sales Assistant aged 15.
Most recently, he held the role of Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing Superdrug’s commercial teams, marketing and CRM functions.
In the role, he helped “deliver consistent, compelling brand messaging, strong supplier partnerships, and exceptional customer value across more than 800 stores nationwide,” Superdrug said in a statement.
Comins has also helped shape innovative customer experiences, such as the retailer’s Beauty Playground concept.
These experiential beauty hubs are set to become permanent features at 30 stores following its success.
Comins’ promotion to COO will bring together retail and commercial operations, marking “a bold step in Superdrug’s strategic vision to create a seamlessly connected business”, the retailer said.
“I am incredibly proud of how far we have come as a business and excited to take on this new role as COO,” said Comins.
“By bringing together our retail and commercial teams, we can continue to evolve and deliver even more value, choice, and standout experiences for our customers.”
Superdrug CEO Peter Macnab, added: “Simon’s deep understanding of both our business and our customers makes him ideally placed to lead the next phase of our journey.
“His ability to drive innovation has already delivered fantastic results, from strengthening our commercial strategy to bringing new experiences for our customers to life.
“Simon will be central to ensuring our retail and commercial plans work hand-in-hand to create the very best experience for our customers.”
