Chanel has released its first perfume in more than a decade.

The luxury beauty brand took to Instagram to unveil the Gabrielle Chanel bottle yesterday, named after founder Gabrielle Chanel, and its first major fragrance since 2002.

Actress Kristen Stewart was hinted to be the face of the perfume via a social media post detailing that the product will be available from 1 September.

At the launch party in Paris’ modern arts centre Palais de Tokyo yesterday, Stewart said: “I think that Gabrielle never stopped searching.

“I think there was something inside of her which drove her to an authenticity of spirit and it lasted an entire lifetime."

Singer Pharrell Williams, who attended the event and entertained the crowd, added: “[Coco Chanel] was really and purely like instinct, that shows in all of the things she’s done and this legacy she has created.”
