The manufacturer of Kim Kardashian West’s beauty range has reportedly filed a lawsuit to protect the sharing of trade secrets and business practices with Coty

KKW Beauty is reportedly being sued by its contract manufacturer Seed Beauty, after beauty conglomerate Coty confirmed it is in talks with Kim Kardashian West over a possible collaboration.

The US manufacturer is said to be asking a judge for an injunction to block KKW Beauty from revealing trade secrets and business practices to the beauty conglomerate, according to TMZ.

In a recent Coty filing, it was revealed that Kardashian West is in talks with the company over a "possible collaboration with respect to certain beauty products.”

Coty already owns a 51% share in Kylie Jenner’s beauty brands Kylie Cosmetics and Kylie Skin.

TMZ reports that Seed Beauty experienced a similar situation with Jenner’s old parent company King Kylie in 2016.

Coty acquired a majority stake in the entrepreneur and influencer’s business in 2019 for US$600m.

Seed Beauty is said to have started working with KKW Beauty roughly one year after it took on the manufacture of Kylie Cosmetics.

Cosmetics Business has contacted Seed Beauty for comment.
