Pure Beauty talks to Julia Simpson, Boots Premium Beauty Buyer and COPRA's new Chairman, about the business of beauty buying
How did you become a beauty buyer?
I’ve worked at Boots for about 18 years and have loved every minute. I started in the gifting team and have worked on a wide range of other categories, including food, health care and on boots.com. In 2012 when I was asked to join the premium beauty team I jumped at the chance, but who wouldn’t?
What specific skills and characteristics do you need in your role?
It is an incredibly busy time in the world of premium beauty so being able to juggle lots of balls is a must. You also need a lot of patience as well as great communication skills to ensure everything lands brilliantly.
