Specialty ingredients company Natural Sourcing has added cold pressed organic camellia oil to its line of specialty oils for use in personal care products.

Native to China, the Camellia oleifera and Camellia sinensis plants are used to harvest varieties of tea including organic green, black, white and oolong tea leaves. Similar to the teas made from these species, organic camellia oil is said to possess high antioxidant content. Around 85 per cent of the fatty acid composition contained in organic camellia oil is in the form of monounsaturated oleic acid, while it is also a rich source of other omega 3,6 and 9 fatty acids plus vitamin E and polyphenols.

According to Natural Sourcing, the oil is suitable for a wide range of personal care applications including products for dry, mature skin, or products to treat sun damage, scars or brittle/damaged hair.
