The collection was created in collaboration with make-up artist Lynsey Alexander, and will feature lipsticks, serums and cleansers

Prada is the latest fashion house in 2023 to enter the beauty arena, after it announced the launch of a new skin care and make-up collection.

Eyeshadows, lipsticks and foundations will feature in the Prada Beauty range, alongside serums, creams and cleaners.

Launching on 1 August 2023, it will be available directly to consumers through the luxury brand’s website.

Selfridges will begin stocking Prada Beauty products on 18 August, with a global expansion anticipated for later this year.

Prada wrote in an Instagram post that it is “reimagining existing definitions and expectations with an avant-garde vision of beauty activated by tech and creativity.”.

The collection was created in collaboration with make-up artist Lynsey Alexander, who has been appointed as Global Creative Makeup Artist and brand ambassador.

“Together we have spent three years crafting and refining each detail of each Prada make-up product,” said Alexander.

E-make-up artist Ines Alpha will also front the beauty range as brand ambassador.

While the new collection is the brand’s first foray into make-up and skin care, Prada has worked with L'Oréal to create a successful line of fragrances.

In 2022 Prada launched Paradoxe, featuring notes of neroli and amber, which was promoted in a campaign starring Hollywood film star Emma Watson.

The new beauty range comes after fragrance and fashion brand Paco Rabanne also announced plans to expand into make-up for the very first time.

Lip products, eye shadow palettes and pigments will feature in the Puig-owned brand’s debut cosmetics collection, which launches into Selfridges and Sephora this September.

Kering, the owner of Gucci and Balenciaga, also acquired luxury perfume house Creed in 2023 for its newly formed beauty division.

The luxury fashion group purchased the high end fragrance label from investment firm Blackrock.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed and the all-cash transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2023.
