Dove has made a statement after coming under fire on TikTok for marketing a cult classic product as ‘limited edition’, despite only altering the packaging.
The Unilever-owned brand recently launched the ‘Glow Up’ range, a limited edition run of the brand’s core products in a summer lotus flower and vanilla scent, including a deodorant, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.
However, some fans of the brand who snatched up the limited run were disappointed after opening up the Beauty Cream Bars to find Dove’s popular Pink Bars inside.
Sharing their disappointment on social media, TikTok user Neeka (@skin.nv) posted a video showing how once the package was open, “It’s literally just Dove pink.
“Am I missing something? Is it meant to be the limited edition Glow Up?”
A second user, Carly (@carlymairex) shared her confusion in a video, where she asked: “I have opened it and it is just a normal pink one… I’m not sure if it’s happened to just me or if it has happened to other people.”
There were comments from other disappointed shoppers on TikTok who were looking forward to trying a new product from the brand.
User @maisie.rosexo commented, “I just called them for the same reason! He said it’s just the packaging that is limited edition and the soap is the same.”
“YES!” added TikTok user @louisegaskell. “From savers, it was just the normal pink one.
“I felt soooo scammed when I opened it – I’m not even a fan of the pink one, I’d rather have the original. Fewmin.”
