Givenchy Beauty has named Zhao Liying its latest Global Brand Ambassador.

The Chinese actress is appearing in a new campaign for Givenchy Beauty’s Le Rouge Velvet Matte lipstick to mark the new tie-up.

Liying is known for appearing in television series such as The Journey of the Flower, Feng Chui Ban Xia and The Legend of Shen Li.

Givenchy Beauty called the appointment “a bold, elegant new era” when announcing the appointment on the brand’s social media channels.

In a statement the luxury French fashion house said Liying joins the brand “to forge a new chapter in Givenchy make-up”.

It added: “Her artistic dedication and emotional depth perfectly embody Givenchy Beauty’s spirit of creativity, boldness, and excellence.”.

The 37-year-old, who has also appeared in the films Article 20 and We Girls, is also a Global Ambassador for Galénic, the French luxury skin care brand.

Romain Spitzer, CEO of Givenchy Beauty, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Zhao Liying as our Global Brand Ambassador.

“Her singular talent, captivating elegance, vibrant energy and powerful femininity all perfectly capture what Givenchy Beauty stands for.”

Liying wears an almond terracotta nude shade – N05 George 5 – from  Givenchy Beauty’s new Le Rouge Velvet Matte lipstick range in the campaign, in a nod to the company’s historic ateliers on avenue George V in Paris.

The formula claims to offer a natural blurring matte finish and comes in a sleek black case adorned with the iconic silver 4G logo, which is a nod to Givenchy’s first slim lipstick in the early sixties.

Givenchy and Liying will work together on future make-up launches, “celebrating elegance and innovation while exploring the infinite possibilities of beauty,” the company added.

Liying is the latest star to join the LVMH-owned brand’s roster of ambassadors.

Hyunjin of K-pop group Stray Kids was named a Givenchy Beauty ambassador earlier this year, while singer Joshua from Seventeen became a face of the brand in 2023.

Yuta Jinguji of Japanese boyband Number_i was also named an ambassador in February, appearing in a campaign for Givenchy’s Prisme Libre Loose Powder and Glow Serum Foundation.

Meanwhile, Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly became the new face of Givenchy Beauty’s Gentleman fragrance franchise earlier this year.
