Kao Corporation has finalised a substantial upgrade at its Green Street manufacturing facility in Hertfordshire, the home of luxury British brand Molton Brown.
The enhancements include cutting-edge mixing technology and a comprehensive refurbishment of office and R&D spaces, which the beauty owner says marks a significant step in Kao’s commitment to UK production and future innovation.
The investment, totalling a low double-digit million figure, focuses on expanding production capacity and improving operational efficiency.
Central to the upgrade are new sealed, self-cleaning mixing vessels and state-of-the-art equipment designed to elevate product quality, streamline processes, and enhance operator safety.
Alongside production enhancements, Kao has modernised office and welfare areas, creating a collaborative, people-first working environment that supports employee wellbeing and fosters innovation.
This move signals Kao’s intention to grow its UK footprint.
The company is actively exploring opportunities to expand production at Green Street to other brands in its portfolio, including John Frieda and Bondi Sands.
Guido Kirchhoff, Global President Operations at Kao, described the upgrades as “an exciting new chapter supporting both innovation and the wellbeing of our people, while further building our local and global operations.”
