In the cosmetic industry, where complex, water-based formulations with active ingredients are common, failures like contamination, instability, or product failure can harm consumers, damage brands, and lead to financial losses. 

HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) is a proactive system that complements Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) by focusing on safety risks with a structured approach.

While GMP ensures overall quality and compliance, HACCP prevents hazards at critical points, creating a robust system to safeguard product and process. 

It consists of seven practical, science-based steps: hazard analysis, determining critical control points (CCPs), establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, establishing corrective actions, verifying system effectiveness, and maintaining documentation.
