Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty has launched the Rare Impact Fund's Giving Circle – a community-powered initiative that invites people to donate money each month to help support youth mental health.
Launched in partnership with Dollar Donation Club – which unites donors to fund social projects – the scheme is asking the public to donate as little as US$1 per month as part of a larger movement built on community-powered philanthropy.
It builds on the work of the beauty brand’s five-year-old Rare Impact Fund, which aims to raise US$100m over ten years in support of mental health services for underserved communities in the US, with Rare Beauty donating 1% of all sales to the fund.
Contributions to the new Giving Circle will support the Rare Impact Fund and the beauty brand’s global cohort of non-profit partners, which are working to expand access to youth mental health services and education around the world.
It is designed to make generosity both accessible and participatory.
“Five years ago today – on my birthday – we launched the Rare Impact Fund with a simple goal; to help more young people around the world feel seen, supported and cared for,” Gomez said in an Instagram post about the news on 22 July.
“Mental health has always been deeply personal to me, and I wanted to build something that could create lasting change.
“Since then, thanks to your support, we have reached over two million young people and supported 30 incredible organisations around the globe.
“And this is just the beginning.
“To celebrate this milestone (and my birthday), we just launched the Rare Impact Fund Giving Circle – where people can come together, pool their resources and support organisations doing life-changing work.
“It is about believing in the power of community to create lasting change.”
There are three tiers of donation available on the Rare Impact Fund's Giving Circle.
Tier one, ‘Gratitude’, is a $1 per month donation; tier two is ‘Bold’, which is $5 per month; and tier three is ‘Rare’, which is $10 per month.
All those who donate will get behind-the-scenes Rare Beauty access and the chance to win limited-edition memorabilia.
Every Dollar Donation Club contribution is publicly trackable, showing donors exactly where their money goes and what it achieves.
“We are not asking people to give more – we are inviting them to give together,” said Seth Blaustein, founder of Dollar Donation Club.
“Teaming up with the Rare Impact Fund is exactly why we built this platform – to make it easy for people to turn shared purpose into real impact.”
