The Grammy Award-winning artist joins the make-up brand as ambassador and broke the news by snacking on a chocolate version of MAC Cosmetics’ Lady Danger lipstick during the VMAs red carpet

Singer and rapper Doja Cat has been named MAC Cosmetics’ latest Global Ambassador.

The partnership announcement follows Doja Cat’s appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) red carpet in New York, US on 7 September, where she snacked on a bullet of MAC Cosmetics’ Lady Danger lipstick.

The red lipstick was a chocolate recreation, with the make-up brand calling on master chocolatier Amaury Guichon to create the edible version of the artist’s favourite shade.

Doja Cat joins a long list of musicians who have joined forces with the Estée Lauder Companies-owned make-up brand, including Fenty Beauty founder Rihanna, rapper Nicki Minaj and Blackpink  star Lisa.

The brand’s Global Brand Ambassador role has stemmed from MAC Cosmetics’ Viva Glam initiative, which launched in 1994..

This initiative donates 100% of sales from MAC Cosmetics’ Viva Glam lipsticks and lip glosses franchise to an array of grassroots equal rights causes worldwide.

“I’ve been a MAC girl forever, and now I get to make my love official as the new MAC [Cosmetics] Global Brand Ambassador,” Doja Cat shared in a statement.

“Make-up is my paint, my armour, my way of creating characters – and MAC [Cosmetics] has always stood for that kind of artistry and freedom.

“We are going to push it even further and make people see beauty in a whole new way… wearing a whole lot of Lady Danger along the way 💋.”

Nicola Formichetti, MAC Cosmetics’ Global Creative Direction, wrote in an Instagram post: “Fearless. Bold. Unapologetically herself. Very MAC [Cosmetics].

“Doja uses make-up as a tool for creativity, always pushing the boundaries of expression…

“Cannot wait to show you all what we are cooking… it is so delicious.”

The partnership comes as Doja Cat gears up to release her fifth studio album, Vie, this month.
