Beauty giants including L’Oréal Groupe, Beiersdorf, Kenvue and Colgate-Palmolive are set to roll out eco scores on some of their best-selling products in a fresh sustainability push.

L’Oréal Paris, Neutrogena, Nivea Q10 and Eucerin are among the brands that will show consumers the environmental impact with a rating on a scale of A to E.

The EcoBeautyScore indicates the environmental footprint of beauty products based on its entire lifecycle, from ingredients to packaging and how it is disposed of.

The first-of-its kind initiative is a result of a collaboration across the beauty industry, involving more than 70 cosmetics and personal care companies, called the EcoBeautyScore Association.
