RSPO’s latest Impact Update demonstrates safeguards for people and planet

Published: 22-Aug-2025

The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) latest Impact Update 2025 has been released, following the milestone Impact Report 2024, which marked 20 years since the founding of the RSPO

The Impact Update 2025 is a concise and data-focused publication that captures the tangible outcomes of the RSPO Members’ efforts from 1 January to 31 December 2024.

The update highlights how the RSPO Standards continue to drive change across multiple dimensions:

  • US$5.3 million has been allocated to support 140 projects around the world benefiting more than 57,500 small-scale farmers in 14 countries since 2013.
  • More than 640,000 workers around the world benefit from the working standards provided by the RSPO Principles and Criteria (P&C) Certification.
  • 425,597 hectares (2.7 times the size of Greater London) of High Conservation Value and an additional 29,469 hectares of riparian reserves - extremely critical ecosystems - have been set aside for protection under RSPO Certification.
  • Cumulative GHG emissions avoided since 2015 is 2.43 million tCO2e/year, equivalent to 567,734 cars.

The commitment of downstream players in the supply chain is also reflected in the growth of certification among midstream facilities, exceeding more than 7,000 sites globally.

The RSPO has three membership categories, Ordinary, Supply Chain Associate and Affiliate Memberships. A notable uptick in Supply Chain Associates (+176, 5.1%) and Ordinary members (+71, 3.2%), signals that more brands are scaling up sustainable palm oil procurement.

The growth within the Ordinary Membership category was primarily driven by an 8.4% increase in members from the Processor and/or Trader and consumer facing sectors - including cosmetics. This growth reflects both consumer demand for sustainable beauty products and companies’ recognition that RSPO certification strengthens credibility, compliance, and brand trust.
