The actress and entrepreneur reunites with her Girlfriends co-stars to mark her brand Pattern Beauty’s first national TV campaign and spotlight textured hair care

Actress and daughter of music icon Diana Ross, Tracee Ellis Ross, has launched the first-ever television commercial campaign for her hair care brand, Pattern Beauty.

While the actor and entrepreneur previously said in interviews that “the ship had sailed” on a Girlfriends reboot – the popular sitcom which launched in 2000 – she has delivered an onscreen reunion with her former co-stars via her hair care brand.

The commercial, directed by creative child, introduces a vibrant, speakeasy-inspired salon setting where Ross can be seen to be the ‘Chief CURLtender’, crafting bespoke hair “cocktails” tailored to various curl patterns and textures.

Ross is joined by Girlfriends castmates Golden Brooks, Jill Marie Jones and Persia White, marking their first onscreen appearance together in years.

Each actor is treated to a custom “hair cocktail,” including a curl-refreshing treatment for Brooks and a deep moisture formula aptly named the “thirst trap” for White.

“Hair cocktailing is a common practice in our community – we layer curl gels, creams, oils and more to create a personalised formula that works best for our own hair,” Ross explained in an interview with Vibe.

In addition to starring in the campaign, she serves as Pattern Beauty’s Co-CEO and founder.

On reuniting with her Girlfriends co-stars, Ross said she aimed to “show the joy that lives in their shared hair moments, from curls, coils and tight textures, to locs, fades, straight styles and more.”

Now in its sixth year, Pattern Beauty has positioned itself as a Black-owned and Black-founded hair care brand offering a comprehensive line of products, spanning wash routines, styling, treatment, heat protection and tools.

The commercial is now streaming across streaming services Hulu, Roku, Disney+ and other platforms.
