CurrentBody’s founder and CEO Laurence Newman has joined the British Beauty Council’s Advisory Board.

Newman, who established CurrentBody in 2009 with Andrew Showman, is the first person in beauty tech to be invited to join the committee.

He will aid the council in responding to calls for evidence surrounding beauty and technology for the future-proofing of the sector.

The position on the board will also allow Newman to provide advice and guidance to smaller brands looking to grow and take the next steps in their development.

Beauty tech has been recognised as an underrepresented area of the British Beauty Council’s work, according to CEO Millie Kendall

The appointment serves as an opportunity to improve this representation and bring more technology to the beauty industry, Newman told Cosmetics Business.
