Interparfum sales slip in Q2 as US demand struggles

The fragrance giant’s US sales struggled in the quarter following the discontinuation of its Interparfums Dunhill fragrance license and global economic challenges

Interparfums has posted a decline in sales for its second quarter of 2025 trading amid global economic challenges and US tariff hikes.

The fragrance giant’s total sales fell by 2% to US$342m during the quarter, compared with $342m during the same period last year.

Income was also dragged down by a 20% slump in US-based net sales, dropping to $96m, which was impacted by the discontinuation of Interparfums’ Dunhill fragrance license.

European sales fared better, however, rising 6% to $241m in Q2.

“While the current macroeconomic environment created headwinds in certain geographies, we view the impacts on our business as transitory as we mitigate the near-term pressures and fuel our longer-term strategy with our retail and distribution partners,” said Jean Madar, Chairman and CEO of Interparfums.

“We are adapting to the evolving landscape and remain confident in the strength of the market, particularly in the US, and the resilience of our brand portfolio.”

Guess and DKNY fragrance sales also declined by 8% and 13% respectively during the quarter.

This was offset by MCM, which saw sales rise 3% and was credited for the successful launch of the MCM Collection.

Madar added: “We expect momentum to build in the second half with both brands benefiting from strong market positioning and planned innovation.

“Roberto Cavalli fragrance sales continue to benefit from our integration, growing 23% and 25% for the second quarter and year-to-date, respectively.”

Interparfums SA recently debuted its first private-label perfume collection Solférino Paris, which is targeted at the niche fragrance market.

The licensed fragrance specialist's first proprietary brand focuses on haute parfumerie, with ten gender-neutral scents each inspired by an iconic Parisian place or moment.

Interparfums will also raise prices in the US by 6% to 7% starting 1 August.
