On the 4th April Kerax were joined by local student Katie for a week long work experience. Here is what she had to say about her week at Kerax:
I am currently at St Michael’s High School in year 10. I study English, Maths, Science, German, Music, Geography, RE.
I wanted to do work experience so I could get a feel of what a real working environment is like, so I could get the experience of working with different people and doing things that I wouldn’t normally do some of which that would take me out of my comfort zone.
By doing this work experience I have learnt about how a business functions, how it operates and how lots of people’s different roles are important towards making a business successful.
During this week I have done a number of things including:
- A tour of the shop floor seeing the various pieces of machinery in operation and how they produce the finished products
- Learning about the different roles inside a company and how they all come together to make the business successful
- Development testing for making candles
- How to use an Kinexus Rotational Rheometer
- Admin jobs
I feel having completed this work experience I have the confidence to go into a working environment in future and have the confidence to interact with people who I have never met before with a professional attitude. I have really enjoyed my week at Kerax and want to thank all the staff for spending time showing me their roles and responsibilities.
